GW&K Investment Management

Joe serves as a portfolio manager for GW&K’s Small Cap Growth Strategy and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He is also a research analyst focused on our Small Cap Core and Small/Mid Cap Core Strategies. Joe is a seasoned investor with expertise in a number of industries including extensive experience in Information Technology. Prior to joining GW&K in 2008, Joe held research analyst positions at Citizens Funds and Needham & Company, and was a research associate at Tucker Anthony. Joe received an AB in Economics from Harvard College. He has earned the CFA® designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.

John joined GW&K as a member of our municipal bond team in 1990 after graduating from college and was promoted to portfolio manager in 1995. In addition to managing our municipal bond strategies, John serves as director of fixed income, responsible for overseeing all aspects of our fixed income operations, including portfolio management, research, and trading. He is a partner in the firm and is also a member of the firm’s Management and Investment Committees. John received a BA in Economics from Boston College and an MBA from Boston University. He is a CFA^® charterholder and is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society Boston, the Boston Municipal Analysts Forum, and the National Federation of Municipal Analysts.

Reid is a partner of the firm and joined GW&K in 2014 to lead the development of our international small cap investment capability, building upon GW&K’s established track record in domestic small cap equity management. Reid is a member of our global equity investment team and manages our International Small Cap and Global Small Cap Strategies. He is also a member of our Investment Committee. Prior to joining GW&K, Reid was a portfolio manager for the small cap sleeve of the Deutsche Global Growth Fund and also served as a senior analyst for Deutsche Global Small Cap Fund. Before transitioning to the investment industry, Reid managed consulting projects at Deloitte that included developing and implementing business solutions for forecasting, new product introductions, manufacturing and distribution processes for domestic and international companies across industries. Reid spent his early career working as a supply chain consultant for two different technology companies. Reid received a BS in Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute.

Karl is a partner of the firm as well as a portfolio manager on GW&K’s International and Global Small Cap Strategies. He is a sector generalist primarily covering companies across Europe, Canada, and North America. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to joining GW&K, Karl spent six years as an equity research analyst at GTP LLC and Deutsche Asset Management. There he performed company research across several industries to identify investment ideas for global equity funds. As a senior member of the team he held substantial responsibility for management, research, and client service. Karl began his career in financial services at Morgan Stanley, followed by Merrill Lynch, and held various roles in fixed income sales and trading. Karl received an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BS in Neuroscience from the University of Scranton. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.

Dan is a partner of the firm and brings over four decades of investment management experience to GW&K. As director of our equity department, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our equity investment teams including portfolio management, research, and trading. He is a member of the firm’s Management, Investment, and ESG Committees. Dan has worked with various companies in the Boston area as an investment and financial consultant. Prior to joining GW&K, he spent 21 years at Putnam Investments in Boston, where he was chief investment officer for the specialty growth group and oversaw a team of twenty and up to $100 billion in assets under management. He was also a portfolio management team member of several small and mid cap growth funds, the lead manager for the Putnam New Opportunities Fund, and a member of Putnam’s management committee and partners group. He began his career as an analyst at Morgan Stanley. Dan graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with highest honors, and received his MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He is a CFA® charterholder and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston. Dan serves on the board of trustees for The Rashi School in Dedham, Massachusetts.

Brian is a partner of the firm and has been a portfolio manager on the municipal bond team since 2008. He has primary responsibility for GW&K’s Municipal Enhanced Yield, 2-8 Year Municipal Bond, and Short-Term Municipal Bond Strategies, and he trades bonds across the credit spectrum from AAA to BBB. Brian is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Brian joined GW&K in 1998 soon after graduating college. He started as an operations specialist and shortly thereafter transitioned to the municipal bond team to support the research and trading efforts for the firm’s growing municipal bond strategies. Through the years he developed expertise in researching municipal credits across the quality spectrum and gained a deep understanding of the vast and complex municipal bond market. Brian received his BS in Finance from Boston College in 1997. He is a CFA® charterholder, and is a member of the Boston Municipal Analysts Forum, the National Federation of Municipal Analysts, the CFA Institute, and the CFA Society Boston.

Kara is partner of the firm and a portfolio manager for all of the firm’s municipal bond strategies. She is a member of GW&K’s Investment Committee and ESG Committee. As a seasoned fixed income manager with deep knowledge of the market, including experience managing taxable municipal bonds and ESG strategies, she is able to draw on her extensive research and management expertise in the evaluation of market risks, opportunities and strategic portfolio positioning. Kara joins GW&K from Income Research + Management (IR+M), where she was a senior portfolio manager and co-director of credit research and a member of the Investment Committee.  Prior to IR+M, she was a securities valuation analyst at John Hancock Financial.  She began her career at Wachovia Corporation (now Wells Fargo) as an interest rate derivative analyst. Kara earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Psychology from Cornell University.  She is a CFA® charterholder and is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society Boston, the Boston Municipal Analysts Forum, and the National Federation of Municipal Analysts.  In addition, she holds the Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) certificate. 

Jeff is a partner as well as a portfolio manager and analyst on our domestic small cap team. He manages our small and small/mid cap core strategies, directs our domestic equity research effort, and provides research coverage for the Materials, Energy, Utilities, and Industrials sectors. Jeff is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Jeff joined GW&K in 2004 to work on a nascent small cap core strategy and build out the firm’s research efforts. Since that time, the team has launched several other small/mid products and built a reputation for low turnover, risk controlled portfolio construction, and high quality stock selection. Previously he spent several years at BNY Asset Management. He worked with researchers in the firm’s centralized equity research department before joining its small cap growth team covering several sectors. Earlier, he worked at State Street Bank and Bay Bank. Jeff earned a BS from the University of Vermont and an MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is a CFA® charterholder and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston. Jeff serves on the board of directors and as a coach for Brookline Youth Hockey. He and his family have been active with programs associated with All Saints Parish in Brookline where he has served on the board; St. Stephen’s Youth Programs in Boston; and My Life My Choice in Boston.

Marty is a partner and senior member of GW&K’s municipal bond team responsible for portfolio management. He sits on the trading desk and is uniquely positioned to identify and take advantage of opportunities in the inefficient muni-bond market that match clients’ investment needs. Marty is a member of the firm’s Investment and Management Committees. Prior to joining GW&K in 1994, Marty was employed by Mutual Fund Services Company as a senior fund accountant. Marty received his BA in Economics from Boston College in 1991, and Masters in International Economics from Suffolk University in 2002. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society Boston, the Boston Security Analysts Society, the Boston Municipal Analysts Forum, and the National Federation of Municipal Analysts.

Jeff is a portfolio manager for the GW&K Small Cap Value Strategy and provides research coverage for our other domestic equity strategies. He is a seasoned analyst with extensive experience analyzing companies and identifying investment opportunities in the Financial and Real Estate sectors. Jeff is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Through his 20+ years working in investment research, Jeff has gained a broad market perspective covering a wide variety of sectors including Health Care, Technology, Financials, and Real Estate. Prior to joining GW&K, Jeff was an assistant portfolio manager at ING Investment Management and a vice president and equity analyst at J.P. Morgan Fleming Asset Management. He started his investment career working for Dean Witter Intercapital as an investment management associate. Jeff earned a BS in Finance from Central Connecticut State University and an MBA from Vanderbilt University. He is a CFA® charterholder and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.
