[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=""]Brendan is responsible for analyzing and trading securitized products across GW&K’s Taxable Bond Strategies and serves as a portfolio manager for the GW&K Securitized Investment Grade Strategy.  He oversees investment strategy related to securitized assets with a primary focus on valuing opportunities, security selection, and managing exposure.  Brendan is a member of the firm’s Investment and Diversity Equity & Inclusion Committees. Most recently Brendan was an assistant portfolio manager at Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston responsible for trading agency mortgage-backed securities and managing a $3.5 billion whole loan mortgage portfolio. He was also a vice president with Newfleet Asset Management, where he built proprietary analytical tools to improve the management of mortgage-backed securities (MBS). Brendan spent seven years at Securities Finance and Trust Company where he was responsible for a $10 billion portfolio mainly consisting of non-agency residential MBS. Brendan received a BS in Accounting from Quinnipiac University and an MBA with distinction from S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Brett is a member of GW&K’s Taxable Bond Team responsible for opportunistic and strategic portfolio positioning, performance, and risk management for all of the firm’s Taxable Bond Strategies. He brings to the team broad fixed income research and management knowledge, with a particular focus on the structured credit universe. His experience is well aligned with GW&K’s long-standing philosophy of applying an active total return approach supported by in-depth independent research. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to joining GW&K, Brett was co-head of Structured Credit at Franklin Templeton, where he managed multi-asset fixed-income funds and structured credit-specific mandates. He led the creation of a Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) investment strategy, developed a credit model and OAS framework, and oversaw over $1 billion in new investments across accounts. Previously, he was a lead portfolio manager at Putnam Investments, responsible for investment allocations, research, analysis, and trading across structured products, managing over $12 billion in assets. Prior to Putnam, Brett held roles in portfolio management, research, and trading, beginning his investment career at Fidelity Investments. Brett graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a minor in Mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.
